MALAYSIA CONTINUES TO ATTRACT FOREIGN INVESTMENTS

JEMPOL (Malaysia), Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Deputy International Trade and
Industry Minister Mukhriz Mahathir said Malaysia continued to be an attractive
investment destination for foreigners.

Without giving statistics, he said the value of foreign investments between
January and March this year was equivalent to that recorded for the whole of
last year.

Speaking at the presentation of laptops and aid at Felda Kempis Saturday, he
attributed the situation to Malaysia's economic recovery through various efforts
carried out by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

He said the encouraging situation also contributed to the growth of the
country's Gross Domestic product to 9.5 per cent.

This would not be achieved if the political situation in the country was
tense because the government would not be able to focus on economic issues, but
on solving political problems, he added.
