WOMAN CEO FILES US$6.38 MLN SUIT AGAINST TELCO




KOTA BAHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), Aug 30 (Bernama) -- A woman chief
executive officer (CEO) Sunday filed a RM20 million (US$6.38 million) suit against a
telecommunications company (telco) for allegedly revealing contents of her SMS
exchanges and recordings of her teleconversations with other individuals to third
parties.

Noor Haslina Abdullah, 39, who is the CEO of a private college in Kuala
Terengganu, in the east coast state of Terengganu, filed the suit against the
company, which is heaquartered in Kuala Lumpur and has a Kota Baharu branch, at
the High Court registry here at 2pm through the law firm of Messrs Rafizi
Zubairi & Co.

In her statement of claim, she said she suffered hurt of feelings, trauma and
mental stress as a result of the episode.

She alleged that on March 11, when she arrived at her office, she received a
package which contained nine A-4 sized pages with information about her SMS
exhanges and a "Kingston Data Traveller 4GB" pen drive that had recordings of
her telephone conversations.

She added that she lodged a police report on the matter on March 14 and sought
relief from the telco, but was ignored.

She is seeking damages totalling RM20 million and other relief deemed fit by the
court.
