PEOPLE FEEL CONFIDENT OF COUNTRY'S FUTURE - STUDY
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Majority of Malaysians sampled in a recent
survey have expressed confidence of the country's ability to achieve its Vision
2020.
The study, involving 1,367 respondents from various races, showed that 86 per
cent of them felt that the government's programme was good for the country's
future.
It also showed that most of the respondents had high hopes for Malaysia's Vision
2020 based on the government's current programmes including those concerning
development, peace and harmony, the economy and the 1Malaysia idea.
The study, supervised by senior communications lecturer at the International
Islamic University Malaysia Prof Syed Arabi Idid, was carried out between Aug
1-18.
It also showed that the respondents had high hopes for the future of their
respective families.
Some 90 per cent of them indicated that their families' future would be fine
while the rest stated the contrary. None of the respondents stated that their
future would remain the same as it was now.
All in all, the respondents felt that introducing the 1Malaysia concept was
among the major achievements of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Some 53 per cent of them agreed with the concept, 22 per cent said they highly
agreed with it while 16 per cent said they did not agree with it and four per
cent said they highly disagreed with it.
Five per cent of them had not indicited any response.
