BOMB ATTACK AT STATE TV STATION

By Jamaluddin Muhammad

BANGKOK, Sept 1 (Bernama) -– A bomb exploded at the government-owned National
Broadcasting Television (NBT) station here Tuesday, the third attack in the city
within a month.

Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office Ongart Klampaiboon said the
police were determining the type of bomb used in the 1.20pm (Malaysian time:
2.20pm) attack.

"I am going there to check it out," he said.

While no one was injured in the attack at the station's car park, five cars were
damaged.

Acting Government spokesman Dr Panitan Wattanayagorn blamed the incident on some
groups which did not want normalcy returned to the country.

Bangkok and six other provinces have been under a state of emergency rule since
early April, following a spate of anti-government protest and unrest which left
91 people dead and 1,800 injured.

Last Friday, a security guard was seriously injured when a grenade exploded at
the King Power Duty Free Complex here, and another bomb exploded opposite the
complex near Victory Monument on July 30, seriously injuring a scavenger.
