EXHIBITION ON MIDDLE-AGE TORTURE IN EUROPE IN KELANTAN
KOTA BAHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), Sept 2 (Bernama) -- History enthusiasts and
fans of English classical films in the state will soon have the opportunity to
see the brutal acts of torture during the middle-age Europe when the advertising
and event management company, Well Ad Communication Sdn Bhd, holds a Tortura
exhibition here.
At the exhibition, to be held in collaboration with the Kelantan Museums
Corporation, about 200 various items used to torture, including to punish those
who committed offences, during that era will be made available by a collector,
Pio Brebdo, from Italy.
"Tortura is the only exhibition to display the brutal punishments used in Europe
at that time on the offenders based on opinion, family origin, religion, social
status and gender," Well Ad Director of Operations, David Oh, told reporters
here Wednesday.
He said, among the items to be exhibited were the guillotine, tearing horse,
head crushing equipment, gallows, iron saw mask, interrogation chair, knee
crushing iron and iron tortoring instrument for women.
Oh said they were also in the final stage of negotiating with the
state museum authority to fix the date for the exhibition expected to be held after
Aidifitri (celebration to mark the end of Ramadan month).
He said RM1.5 million (US$479,003) had to be allocated as cost to finance the
transportation of the exhibits from Italy including the insurance coverage.
Oh expected the exhibition, the first to be held in the state, to attract 60,000
visitors in three months. (US$1=Rm3.14)
