MINISTRY STRIVES TO ACHIEVE 36 MIL TOURIST ARRIVALS BY 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Teamwork among employees of the Tourism
Ministry should be enhanced in an effort to turn it into an effective
organisation and achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPI), said its
minister, Dr Ng Yen.

She said this was in line with the ministry's objective of achieving the target
of 36 million tourist arrivals with a turnover of RM168 billion (US$53.7
billion) by 2020.

"The Ramadan Bazaar in the fasting month of Ramadan is yet another
Malaysia's tourism products as well as a culture of togetherness among the people.

"The promotion of the bazaar will be intensified by the ministry as no other
country has such a wide array of delicious fare sold at numerous places
nationwide," she said when attending the breaking of fast at the Putra World
Trade Centre here Wednesday.

For the record, Malaysia received RM1 billion (US$319.4 million) a week in
tourism revenue last year.

Ng said the breaking of fast enhanced the spirit of togetherness and cooperation
among fellow employees.
