INDONESIAN INFO MINISTER CALLS FOR A STOP TO INTERNET BASHING

JAKARTA, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Indonesia's telecommunications and information
minister Tifatul Sembiring has called on Indonesian and Malaysian cyber
communities to stop bashing each another, saying they should instead help ease
tensions between both countries.

"We should work on easing the tension here and at the same time, they should
also do the same there.

"We don't want to see a situation where it is already abating there
(Malaysia) but it is still boiling here (Indonesia)," he told reporters.

He was asked to comment on the cyber war between the netizens of both
countries over the incident off Johor recently where Indonesian maritime and
fisheries officers arrested seven Malaysian fishermen for alleged trespassing
while Malaysian marine police arrested three Indonesian officers for allegedly
entering into Malaysian water illegally.
