M'SIA'S SCOMI OPENS STATE-OF-THE-ART WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY IN NORWAY

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Scomi Group Bhd's Norwegian subsidiary in
the oil and gas industry, Scomi Oiltools AS, opened its drilling waste treatment
plant in Sandnessjoen, Norway, Thursday.

President of Scomi Oiltools Steve Bracker said the company will be working
together with its Norwegian partner, Veolia Miljo, to provide services at
Sandnessjoen.

The facility will source most of its technical and operations personnel
locally. Veolia Miljo AS is Norway's leading environmental services provider.

Bracker said Norway has stringent regulations when it comes to discharging
waste and waste water.

"Therefore, our facility features the integration of two of waste treatments
most advanced technologies, namely thermal desorption and membrane
technology, into a single seamless system for waste elimination.

The new water treatment system is also designed to efficiently fit into a
13 feet container for offshore treatment of slop water, therefore making it a
suitable option for offshore use where there is space constraint," he said in a
statement Thursday.

The closed loop system ensures the waste is processed to regulatory
requirements and recyclable materials are recovered for subsequent reuse.
