LIGHT PLANE CRASHES IN JOHOR, KILLING WOMAN TRAINEE PILOT

JOHOR BAHARU (Malaysia), Sept 7 (Bernama) -- A woman trainee pilot was
killed and her male instructor injured after a light aircraft crashed in a
plantation near Mount Pulai Tuesday, according to a police source.

Mount Pulai (Malay: Gunung Pulai) is a mountain in Johor, southern state of
Peninsular Malaysia which is located about 19 km from Johor Bahru city.

It said the plane, from a flying academy, went down at 9.20am during a
training flight.

"Eye-witnesses said the engine of the plane stalled before it crashed," the
source told Bernama.

It said the plane is believed to have taken off from the Senai airport at
about 8.30am for the training flight over Johor.

The injured man and the body of the woman had been brought to the Kulaijaya
Hospital, the source said.
