MUSLIMS MUST BE GRATEFUL FOR PEACE AND HARMONY THAT PREVAILS IN M'SIA
MUAR (Malaysia), Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin
said Muslims in Malaysia must be grateful for the peace and harmony that
prevails in the country.
Unlike other countries that are constantly hit by tragedies, natural
disasters or conflict which result in numerous deaths, Malaysia has been free of
such tragedies.
"Muslims in the country must be grateful and thank 'Allah' the almighty for
maintaining peace in the country and not bloodshed due to conflicts. Here
(Malaysia), we live in peace and harmony," he told reporters accepting tithes
from Uda Holdings at the Saadiah Surau in Jalan Bakri Tuesday.
The Saadiah Surau was build by Muhyiddin's late father Muhammad Yassin
Mohamad, a well known religious scholar in the country.
He said Pakistan was facing one of the worst floods in the countries history
that has claimed thousands of victims while in Indonesia, hundreds of thousands
had to be evacuated when a volcano erupted.
Muhyiddin earlier received RM20,000 (US$6,389) as tithes from Uda Holdings
Chairman Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
Also present were Muhyiddin's wife Norainee Abdul Rahman, Uda
Holdings Managing Director Jaafar Abu Hassan and the Saadiah Surau Trustee
Board Chairman, Ghafur Yassin.
