Laos to host Sub-Mekong River meeting on women with Japan

(KPL) - The Lao PDR will host a meeting on women of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam with Japan.

The announcement was made by Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting of foreign ministers of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and Japan held in Singapore on 22 July.

The meeting held to review the joint co-operation projects supported by Japan for the Sub-Mekong River countries.

At the meeting the three countries of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam haveexpressed thanks to the Government and people of Japan for their assistance worth US$ 20 million to implementing the development projects in the sub-Mekong region countries including the triangle economic development project and the human resource development project.

The meeting also praised Japan for its good organisation of the recent G-8 meeting. On this occasion, Dr. Thongloun also expressed thanks to Japan government for signing the agreement to promote and protect the investment with Laos that attracted Japanese investors to Laos. Today, Japan is the fifth country of the main foreign investors in Laos.
