KL TO SHARE NEM WITH APEC COUNTRIES

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will share the New Economic Model
(NEM) concept, especially on the methods deployed by the government to generate
employment, with other member countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
(APEC).

Human Resources Minister Dr S.Subramaniam was scheduled to speak on the
matter during his address at the Fifth Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
(APEC) Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting in Beijing, China
beginning Thursday, according to a Human Resources Ministry statement here
Wednesday.

Dr Subramaniam, who left Wednesday to attend the three-day meeting, was
expected to touch on the issue of maintaining and expanding employment and the
adoption of an employment-oriented macro-economic policies, the statement said.

The NEM, a brain-child of Prime Minister Najib Razak, is premised on three
guiding principles to drive Malaysia' economic progress. The three principles
are high income, sustainability and inclusiveness.
