MALAYSIA AIRLINES MOVES TO SEVENTH SPOT IN BEST AIRLINES POLL
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines moves up one spot to
seventh place in the Top 10 Airlines Worldwide category in the Best in Travel
Poll 2010 by Smart Travel Asia magazine.
Malaysia Airlines is in fifth place in the Top 10 Airlines Cabin Service
category and ranked sixth in Top 10 Airlines Business Class category.
Malaysia Airlines Senior General Manager, Managing Director's Office, Muzzaffar
Othman said in a statement Sunday that Asia was the airlines' main market and
that the company was delighted to receive the recognition as 60 per cent of the
voters were based in Asia.
"We are on track for growth and looking forward for the delivery of our new
planes starting from this year until 2014. The new B737-800s start coming in
from this October.
"With this, we will be the first airline in Asia and second in the world to
receive the new Boeing Sky Interior. This means our customers can enjoy better
products and services by Malaysia Airlines," he said.
Muzzaffar added that the company was constantly looking into ways to improve the
travel experience for their customers, among them through the MHmobile which
allowed customers to purchase tickets, check in for their flights, view their
Enrich miles and their last five flight activities through their mobile phones.
"Our customers at KL Sentral can also book, pay, check-in and search for hot
deals via the iPad MHKiosk. Our customers are the first in the world to enjoy
this kind of service via an iPad," he said.
Smart Travel Asia Editor Vijay Verghese said Malaysia Airlines' number five rank
for the Best Cabin Service Worldwide category from a field of over a hundred
carriers was a very credible achievement for the airlines.
"With voters polled from all over the world, 20 per cent of them from the United
Kingdom and Europe and 20 per cent from the United States, the final tally
represents carriers that have positive brands profile globally and not just
regionally," he said.
