MALAYSIAN KING FOR A SPECIAL TASK VISIT TO CANADA




MONTREAL, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin
arrived here Saturday for a six-day special task visit to Canada under
Malaysia's brain gain project, an initiative to develop technical and scientific
expertise among Malaysian universities through collaborations with Canadian
institutions.

Tuanku Mizan was greeted on arrival at the Pierre Elliot Trudeau
International Airport by Malaysia's east coast state of Terengganu Menteri Besar
(Chief Minister)Ahmad Said and Malaysian High Commissioner to Canada, Selwyn Das.

The visit, jointly-organised by the Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation (YDSM),
Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Science, Technology and Innovation
Ministry, is aimed at enhancing the network between researchers and academic
staff of Malaysian universities and Canada's McGill University, here, and
University of Guelph in Toronto.

While here, Tuanku Mizan is scheduled to witness several memorandums of
understanding involving Malaysia's Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Sultan
Zainal Abidin, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Universiti Putra Malaysia, and
the two Canadian universities.

He will also visit Montreal General Hospital to see for himself how the super
hospital project is implemente.

On Sunday, he was scheduled to visit Lucky Harvest Therapeutic Riding Center, a
horse riding therapy facility for people with physical, intellectual and
emotional disabilities.
