INDONESIAN CONSULATE CONFIDENT MAID'S ABUSE CASE WILL BE SETTLED QUICKLY

GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian
consulate here is confident that the abuse case of housemaid Wifainda, 26, will
be settled quickly.

Consulate-general Chilman Arisman said Monday this assurance was given to
him by the police.

"My confidence is based on the police efficiency in detaining a couple. I
hope that they will be accordingly punished if proven guilty," he told reporters
here Monday.

Chilman said Wifainda was being treated at Penang Hospital and that the
consulate would then take care of her.

"She has shown positive reaction and I hope that she will fully recover
physically and mentally to continue with her life," he added.

Police on Sunday detained a couple believed to have physically and sexually
abused Wifaida for four months in Taman Cenderawasih, Nibong Tebal in Penang.
