USM EXTENDS PROGRAMMES TO KAZAKHSTAN

PENANG (Malaysia), Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Science University Malaysia (USM)
has extended its services abroad by offering spots to graduates from the Kazakh
National Technical University (Kazntu) in Kazakhstan to further their studies
through distance learning programmes.

USM Vice-Chancellor Prof Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said USM would offer various
bachelor degree programmes in science, social sciences, arts and
management to Kazntu students.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities,
here Monday, he said USM would look at opportunities of bringing more degree
students from Kazakhstan to Malaysia to pursue higher learning programmes here.

"Besides that, we also hope to cooperate on the development of academic
programmes and research based on technical and engineering, as Kazntu's
strengths have been in those areas since it was established 75 years ago," he
added.

At the MoU signing ceremony, USM was represented by Dzulkifli while Kazntu
was represented by its rector, Zhexenbek Adilov.

Kazntu, established in 1934, now offers 46 bachelor degree programmes, 36
master's degree programmes and 16 PhD programmes in 12 faculties.
