ATTORNEY-GENERAL RETURNS POLICE PROBE PAPERS, INSTRUCTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The Attorney-General's Chambers has returned
to the police the investigation papers on the murder of a cosmetics queen and
three other people because it feels further investigation has to be conducted on
many aspects, according to its head of prosecution Tun Abd Majid Tun Hamzah.

He said in a statement Wednesday that the papers were returned on Tuesday after
they were handed in by the police earlier in the day.

Tun Abd Majid said the attorney-general had given several instructions for the
police to consider as well as conduct investigations into other cases said to be
linked to suspects in the case.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said yesterday the police
had sent the investigation papers to the attorney-general and that a complete report
would be handed over in a fortnight after a DNA report was ready.

Cosmetics millionaire Sosilawati Lawiya, 47, her driver Kamaruddin
Shamsudin, 44, lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32, and CIMB Bank officer Noorhisham
Mohammad, 38, went missing on Aug 30 after having gone to Banting, Selangor, over a
land deal.

Police found out that they had been killed, their bodies burnt and the ashes
thrown into rivers in the vicinity of Ladang Gadong near Banting, near here and
have picked up eight people to assist in the probe into the murders.

The police are also investigating four other cases, involving three missing
persons and a woman who was killed in front of her house in Banting, purportedly
linked to two lawyers who are among the eight suspects under detention.

Two of the missing persons are said to be a contractor, Shafik Abdullah, 37, and
a friend of his. Shafik was reported missing by his family five months ago after
he is believed to have met one of the lawyers here over a business deal.

The disappearance of Shafik and his friend has been referred to the
Brickfields district police headquarters.

Another of the missing persons is Indian businessman Allal Kathan Muthuraja, 34,
of Chennai who is said to have disappeared after having met the lawyer suspects
at the KL International Airport on Jan 18 following his arrival from India.
