12 SOUTH KOREAN IMPORTERS ON "BUYING MISSION" TO M'SIA
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- Twelve South Korean importers from the Korea
Importers' Association (Koima) will be on a "buying mission" to Malaysia on
Monday and Tuesday.
This is the first time Malaysia has been included in Koima's annual sourcing
programme.
Hosted by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), the
two-day mission will seek to source Malaysian products such as automotive parts,
electric and hand tools, light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, part and
components of scientific and laboratory equipment, polyester yarns and silicone
and adhesives, said Matrade in a statement Thursday.
Matrade and Koima will be signing a memorandum of understanding to forge a
strong relationship and identify areas of mutual cooperation.
Matrade will also coordinate the Individual Business Meeting session between the
Korean importers and Malaysian exporters on Tuesday.
Matrade said there was scope for strengthening bilateral trade as this year
marked the full implementation of the Asean-Korea Free Trade Agreement between
Malaysia and South Korea.
Under the agreement, both countries have eliminated import duties on 90 per cent
products since Jan 1, 2010, it added.
Koima undertakes various activities aimed at enhancing trade relations with
other trading nations.
