Luxembourg confirms further support for Laos
VIENTIANE,SEPT.23 (KPL) - Luxembourg will continue to support the Lao PDR for its social-economic development in the future.
The statement was made by Ms. Marie Jose Jacobs, Minister for Development Co-operation of Luxembourg, during the bilateral meeting with Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, in New York on 21 September.
During the meeting, Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith expressed thanks and highly valued the assistance and co-operation offered to Laos by Luxembourg in the past and present time which is a main contribution to national development, especially for rural development, public health and vocational education development. Dr. Thongloun also hoped that such a kind of assistance and co-operation would continue for Laos in order to promote the friendly relation and co-operation between Laos and Luxembourg.
Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith also informed his guest that the Lao PDR would hold the 10th roundtable meeting on 20-21 October to mobilise assistance and resources for implementing its 7th socio-economic development plan and the first meeting of State Parties on the Convention on Cluster Munitions in November and to celebrate the 450th anniversary of Vientiane proclamation as the national capital. Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith asked Luxembourg to send its delegation to take part in the events. Ms. Marie Jose Jacobs expressed thanks to the Lao side for attending this bilateral meeting and praised Laos for its achievements in the socio-economic development gained in the past few years.
