Lao government to mobilise over 8,000 billion kip for 2008-09 state budget

(KPL) The fifth session of National Assembly 's sixth legislature hasunanimously agreed with the performance of the state budget for 2007-2008 fiscal year of the Lao government.

The Assembly also approved its expectation figure in 2008-09 fiscal year which plan to achieve about 8,340 billion kip or 16,49 percents of GDP, in which the domestic income will be created at least 7,589 billion kip or equal 15% of GDP. Mrs. Souvanpheng Bouphanouvong, NA's member for first constituency, pointed out that the majority of income from domestic source was tax with more that 3,000 billion kip, 2,000 billion kip of which was import and export and import tax.In addition, the government received income from the tax of state assets with almost 1,000 billion kip, 700 billion kip from state enterprise management, 100 billion kip from selling timber and 80 billion kip from land tax.The NA also approved 10,000 billion kip or 19.82% of GDP for expenditure in the next fiscal year. These included the expenditure for salary of state employees, administrative affairs and for debt payment.It also approved 3.33% or 1,500 billion kip of trade deficit and agreed with the revised reserve of the government for 2007-2008 period.Mrs. Souvanpheng stressed that in order to ensure the implementation next budget plan, the NA has asked the government to pays more attention to adjust the shortcoming issues such as policy for improvingsalary, national saving policy and expenditure management for 2009-2010.
