MALAYSIAN KING CELEBRATES MERDEKA WITH MALAYSIANS IN UK

LONDON, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal
Abidin and Queen Tuanku Nur Zahirah Saturday attended the 53rd
Merdeka Carnival with Malaysians here.

The royal couple spent about two hours with Malaysians in United Kingdom and
visited stalls hawking Malaysian food.

Over 5,000 Britons visited the carnival held at Tun Abdul Razak Research
Centre in Brickendonbury, Hertfordshire.

The annual Merdeka Carnival is regarded as a family day for Malaysians
working and studying in United Kingdom.

Visitors were also entertained to a cultural performance and laughter by
popular comedian Afdlin Shauki.

The royal couple are expected to arrive home on Thursday.
