ASEAN SCOUTS TO CONVERGE AT KIJANG CAMP

PASIR PUTEH (Malaysia), Sept 28 (Bernama) -- About 3,000 Scout leaders and
members from five Asean countries will take part in the five-day 1Land Shout
Jamboree at the Kijang Camp, Kota Baharu from Oct 15.

Kota Bharu, a city in Malaysia, is the state capital and Royal City of east
coast Kelantan state in Peninsular Malaysia.

Kelantan Scout principal assistant commissioner Mohamad Rusli Awang Hamat
said apart from host Malaysia, other countries taking part were Singapore,
Indonesia, Brunei and Thailand.

He said the participants would take part in various events such as
traditional dances, beating of dikir barat drums, batik-making and treasure
hunt.

"The highlight of the jamboree is when the participants put up their own
cultural performances.

"They will also carry out community activities and visit historic sites
including the State Secretariat in Kota Darulnaim," he told reporters here
Tuesday.
