SONGKHLA TOUR AGENTS WANT TO PUT MELAKA IN MALAYSIAN PACKAGES
MELAKA (Malaysia), Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The Songkhla Tourism Industry
Association is keen on putting Melaka into their Malaysian tour packages to Thai
tourists.
Melaka, (Malacca) dubbed The Historical State among locals is the third
smallest Malaysian state, after Perlis and Penang. It is located in the southern
region of the Malay Peninsula, on the Straits of Malacca
Melaka tourism promotion general manager Zulkifli Mohamad said this
was conveyed to him by association president Penny Ritthikan who visited here
with 40 tour agents Sunday.
"They are attracted to the heritage buildings, multi-racial culture and
theme parks in Melaka," he told Bernama here Monday.
The visit in conjunction with "Jom Ke Melaka 2010 (Lets Go Melaka 2010)"
also took the Thais to Jonker Walk within the World Heritage Site and theme park
in Alor Gajah.
Zulkifli said Thai tourists could visit Melaka via overland or air by
charter flight or daily flights by budget carrier AirAsia.
Melaka is targeting 8.2mil tourists to the historical state this year with
average three nights stay.
