VIVA PALESTINA M'SIA URGE EGYPTIAN GOVT TO ENSURE SAFETY OF CONVOY

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Viva Palestina Malaysia Friday urged the Egyptian government to ensure a safe passage for the convoy entering Gaza, to deliver aid to the Palestinians.

In a statement here Friday, Viva said the convoy handed over a letter
to Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia Hani Abdel Kader Ahmed Shash, last Monday to
ensure that their volunteers were given permission by the Egyptian government to
enter Gaza.

"The convoy is expected to arrive in Gaza, via El-Arish on Oct 10," it said.

Viva Palestina Malaysia believes Egypt would make every possible effort to
ensure the safety and comfort of their volunteers in the shared endeavour to
help Palestinians in their quest for an independent State of Palestine.

The statement said, the convoy was also hopeful that the Egyptian government
would facilitate the entry of more than 200 vehicles in the International convoy
to enter and deliver aid to Gaza.

Viva Palestina's 5th Land Convoy 'A Global Lifeline to Gaza' mission which
departed from London on Sept 18, was participated by the 14 Viva Palestina
Malaysia delegations, including journalist and cameraman from TV3.

The delegation of Malaysian volunteers are accompanying donations from
Malaysian individuals and organisations comprising six vehicle loads of aid.
