FOUR MALAYSIAN DOCUMENTARIES AT MIPCOM IN CANNES
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Four Malaysian documentaries, co-produced by National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and Finas, will be distributed at the ongoing Mipcom in Cannes, France, a leading trade show for the entertainment content industry.
The documentaries are Inside Becoming a King, SMART Tunnel, Fight Masters:
Silat and Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh. All were co-produced under
the first and second rounds of the 'Malaysia to the World' initiative.
The Director-General of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia
(Finas), Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim said the collaboration with NGCI over the years
had resulted in some remarkable stories being captured and told.
"We are excited to share top-notch Malaysian documentaries with
international distributors (NGCI) to allow the world to learn more about our
nation and its wealth of culture, nature and innovation," he said in a
statement.
Director and Territory Head of Fox International Channels in Malaysia, Basil
Chua said that those documentaries were indeed some of the most successful work
that they had ever showcased on both National Geographic Channel and National
Geographic Channel in High Definition in many parts of the world.
"We are proud to bring this outstanding offering of programming this year's
MIPCOM," he said.
NGCI's Vice-President of Content Sales, Germaine Deagan said they had
received interest in these programmes from key buyers in advance of Mipcom,
further illustrating the global market appeal for these productions.
