FIRST MALAYSIAN PAINTER TO HOLD SOLO SHOW AT GALERI NASIONAL

JAKARTA, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Veteran painter Yusof Ghani finally fulfilled
his wish to hold a solo exhibition at Galeri Nasional, the first by a Malaysian.

Perdana 39 Exhibition with the title "Faces" from Oct 6-16 gives Indonesian
art enthusiasts the chance to view Yusof's work.

Government-owned Galeri Nasional is only meant for exhibittion of works by
acclaimed painters from Indonesia and other countries.

Yusof said his works dated from 1995 until today showcase faces and places
around the world including Indonesia.

"I had been wanting to hold a solo exhibition at Galeri Nasional for 12
years," he added.

Yusof said the faces are without eyes to show that men are equal if race,
religion and skin colour are not taken into account.
