FORMER PM DR MAHATHIR DUE TO FLY BACK TO KL TODAY

MELBOURNE, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad
is due to fly back to Kuala Lumpur Friday afternoon by private jet.

The plane is set to take off from Tullamarine Airport about 3pm (1pm KL
time).

Dr Mahathir was admitted to Epworth Hospital here on Saturday following a
chest infection.

He was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and had since rested at a hotel
here.

The former prime minister, accompanied by his wife, was scheduled to address
Malaysian students at a workshop here on Saturday but had to call it off when he
fell ill.

International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed
replaced Dr Mahathir at the seminar.

An aide to the former Prime Minister, when contacted, confirmed that Dr
Mahathir would return later Friday.
