NO MALAYSIAN ATHLETES COMPLAINT OF ANY ILLNESS, SAY CONTINGENT'S GM FROM FRANK JULIAN MARTIN

NEW DELHI, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- No Malaysian swimmers have complained of suffering
from any illness especially stomach ache after 12 Australians and 10 English
swimmers were reported to be suffering from the ailment in the ongoing
Commonwealth Games here.

"So far our swimmers and the rest of the athletes in our contingent are fine and
the said illness has only affected the two teams," the Malaysian contingent's
general manager Jefri Ngadirin when contacted here Friday.

Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) chief Mike Fennel told reporters here that
testd done at competition pools found there to be no problem.

He said CGF doctors all agreed that probably the athletes have been affected by
other things and not the pool water.

On October 5, Australian swimmer Robert Hurly returned home after suffering from
a stomach bug, following a meal at the Games Village.

He was a strong contender for a gold medal in the 1,500m freestyle.
