SIX RESOLUTIONS EXPECTED AT FIRST LADIES SUMMIT

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The First Ladies Summit 2010 is
expected to come out with about six resolutions, said the chairman of the
summit's sub-committee, Dr Rafiah Salim.

Rafiah, who is also the director of the NAM Institute for the Empowerment of
Women Malaysia, said the summit would ensure that all these resolutions were
implementable.

Among the matters to be included in the resolutions were children's
security, schooling, education and health.

"The most pressing issue is education...we need to focus on children who are
smart," she told a press conference at the end of the pre-summit meeting, here,
Monday.

Fifteen First Ladies are attending the summit themed, "A Child Today, A
Leader Tomorrow". Also attending are the representatives of six First Ladies and
20 ministers.

The First Ladies Summit 2010, initiated and hosted by the prime minister's
wife Rosmah Mansor, focuses on ways in which families, communities
and governments can work together to uncover the potential in every child.

Rafiah pointed out that the biggest challenge in implementing the
resolutions would be in finding a budget.
