MALAYSIA TO SHARE TOURISM SUCCESS AT KOREA T20 TOURISM MINISTERS' MEETING
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen
will share Malaysia's success in the tourism industry through her paper
presentation at the second T20 Tourism Ministers' Meeting Tuesday, in Buyeo,
Korea.
In a statement Monday, the ministry said Dr Ng would speak on Malaysia's
tourism approach that was "inclusive, sustainable and balanced" and the
ministry's philosophy of protecting and preserving the country's rich history,
traditions, culture and nature.
This, she said, had been crucial in Malaysia's accomplishments as
represented by the success of the "Malaysia Truly Asia" brand which had been
received positively around the world.
"Malaysia, one of two Asian countries outside the Group of 20, has been
widely recognised as a global tourism powerhouse, which has shown no
deterioration since the recession hit the world last year."
The three-day meeting is an avenue for tourism ministers across G20
countries to gather and discuss ways to promote tourism in order to make
valuable contributions to the global economy.
T20 was initiated by the government of South Africa, where the inaugural
meeting was held in February this year, and supported by the World Tourism
Organisation (UNWTO).
