By Zakaria Abdul Wahab

SINGAPORE, Oct 12 (Bernama) -– About 150 Sudoku players from Singapore and
around the Asia Pacific region will compete in the BRAND’S Sudoku Challenge
2010 Championship at Suntec here this weekend.

Fifty players from India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand,
Australia and the Philippines will battle it out at the Asia Pacific Open
challenge on Sunday.

The remaining 100 who are Singaporeans will compete in the Singapore Open
finals on Saturday.

The Singaporeans were selected from nearly 60,000 people who responded to
the Sudoku competition via the organiser’s website.

Preliminaries were held online on a local website and 1,000 of the best
challengers were short-listed to compete in the semi-finals in August.

In a statement Monday, the organiser, BRAND’s, a health supplement company,
said today this would be the second time running that the event was organised
here after it was successfully held last year.

Over $100,000 in cash and prizes are to be won in the championship.
