CHINA-NOBEL 2 LST

Ma said by supporting the wrong decision of the
Norwegian Nobel committee, the Norwegian government has moved
to hurt the bilateral relations, he said.
"Of course we will show our dissatisfaction," he said
when asked about the cancellation of a meeting between
Fisheries Ministers of both the countries.
To question about a statements from several world
leaders calling on the Chinese government to release Liu, Ma
said: "reform process and opening up China had achieved
remarkable development, including on the human rights front.
This is widely acknowledged by international community."
Earlier, Hong Kong based information Centre for Human
Rights and Democracy quoted Liu Xia as saying that she was
asked by her husband to receive the award on his behalf.
Liu Xia said the prison authorities had confirmed that
Liu suffered from a severe gastric ulcer.
It was yet to be confirmed whether he had been
infected with hepatitis B, which the rights group said would
entitle him to get released on medical parole.
"The prison authorities did not elaborate, but I guess
they would let my husband undergo a further check-up to see
whether he is a hepatitis virus carrier," Liu Xia was quoted
as saying. PTI KJV
