FIRST LADIES SUMMIT ENDS WEDNESDAY
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The three-day inaugural First Ladies
Summit will end here Wednesday, with the highlight on the adoption of a
declaration by the first ladies.
The final day programme will start with a special session, "First Ladies:
Sharing of Experiences" at 10am at the Royale Chulan Hotel here.
This will be followed by the presentation and adoption of the declaration
by the first ladies attending the summit.
The Malaysian prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor, who delivered the
keynote address Tuesday, will also make the closing remarks.
The first ladies will then proceed for lunch and a fashion show before
visiting the PERMATA Child Care Centre in Putrajaya.
Fifteen first ladies are attending the summit themed, 'A Child Today, a
Leader Tomorrow'.
Besides Rosmah, other first ladies are Teuta Topi (Albania), Ernestina Naadu
Mills (Ghana), Mariama Mane Sanha (Guinea Bissau), Lorna Golding (Jamaica), Meme
Tong (Kiribati), Keosaychay Sayasone (Laos), Sarojini Jugnauth (Mauritius),
Maria De Luz Guebuza (Mozambique), Patience Jonathan (Nigeria), Mercedes Lugo De
Maidana (Paraguay), Natalie Brigitte Nadage Michel (Seychelles), Sia Nyama
Koroma (Sierra Leone), Sriranthi Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka) and Thandiwe Banda
(Zambia).
Also attending are six representatives of first ladies and 20 ministers.
The First Ladies Summit 2010, initiated and hosted by Rosmah, focuses on
ways in which families, communities and governments can work together to uncover
the potential in every child.
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had officiated the Summit at Seri
Perdana on Monday night.
