INDIAN ATHLETE MIRED IN DOPING SCANDAL AT 2010 CWG

NEW DELHI, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- An Indian has become the third athlete to
have tested positive over the use of banned substances at the 2010 Commonwealth
Games (CWG).

Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell announced the third
consecutive doping case this morning, but refused to reveal the name of the
athlete as the person involved had not been notified.

"Another tested positive, we can't disclose the name now. We are not sure if
the athlete has been notified. But the sports is athletics and the country is
India," Fennell told the media Wednesday morning.

The athlete is believed to have used the steroid, nandrolone.

Earlier this week, two Nigerian athletes tested positive for the banned
stimulant methylhexaneamine.

Osayomi Oludamola, the women's 100m gold medallist in Delhi was stripped of
her medal while hurdler Samuel Okon also tested positive for the same stimulant.

Fennell said 1,300 samples had been collected from athletes.
