Important work to be done with India, Korea, Japan:White House

Washington, Oct 13 (PTI) As US President Barack Obama
prepares for his trip to Asia in November soon after the
mid-term elections in which his Democratic party is projected
to receive a major jolt, the White House has ruled out
postponing or cancelling the trip.
There is important work to be done with countries like
India, South Korea and Japan; where US President is scheduled
to visit next month along with Indonesia, in his effort to
reestablish America's preeminence in Asia, where an aggressive
China has been a matter of concern for its national and
economic security, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs
said.
"This is an important election, but there's also
important work to be done in countries like (South) Korea, in
Japan and in India, in ensuring that we have the type of
relationships around the world and the type of business
relationships in the world that can buy and sell the products
that we make here and create jobs," Gibbs told reporters.
Gibbs was responding to media questions about the
proposed trip of the US President to major democratic
countries in Asia which will keep him away from Washington for
more 10 days.
Some political analysts and his opponents in the party
are critical of such a trip given that his services would be
required to keep the Democratic Party together and its revival
in the case of its major drubbing during the elections.
"I don't think we're going to need to do that," Gibbs
