NORTHERN STATE TO BE PRODUCER OF PAPRIKA CHILLI

KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia), Oct 18 (Bernama) -- Northern state of Perlis is set
to become a producer of paprika chilli with an area covering 0.4 hectares in
Sungai Batu Pahat near here being earmarked for planting of the crop next year.

Chairman of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) Entrepreneurs Club, Dr
Ammar Hassan, said two green houses, costing almost RM2 million (US$646,203),
would be built for the paprika chilli planting project.

He said the project would be carried out a joint-venture between Northern
Corridor Ventures Sdn Bhd and Maltani-NST Technology Corp, a company based in
the United States of America.

He said about 12,000 paprika chilli plants would be planted in the green houses.

We expect the first harvest from the crop, of about 1.2 million paprika chilli,
in the middle of 2012, most of which would be exported to Singapore, Brunei and
Japan, besides for local consumption, he added.

Both companies joint an agreement He told this to reporters after the signing of
an agreement between Northern Corridor Ventures Sdn Bhd and Maltani-NST
Technology Corp.
