POLICE DETAIN THREE NIGERIANS WITH 63KG CANNABIS
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Police detained three Nigerians and seized
63kg ganja(cannabis) worth RM104,000 (US33,520) after three separate raids in
Cheras and Seri Kembangan, near here on Monday.
Police Headquarters (Bukit Aman) Narcotics Crime Investigations Department
acting director Othman Harun said the three suspects were in their 30s.
"The first suspect was detained at Taman Connaught, Cheras while walking with a
bag. Upon inspection, police found 27.4kg of ganja in the bag," he told Bernama
here Monday.
Othman said after interrogating the first suspect, police carried out a follow
up operation and detained two other suspects in Taman Koperasi Maju Jaya, Cheras
and Seri Kembangan.
"Police raided both the houses and found 34.81kg of ganja," he said.
Othman said the ganja was believed to have been smuggled through Bukit Kayu
Hitam in northern state of Kedah and meant for distribution in the klang valley
(Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas).
"We believe the suspects were actively involved in drug trafficking for a number
of months," he said.
