SEVEN FOREIGN ENVOYS PRESENT CREDENTIALS TO MALAYSIAN KING

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Seven foreign envoys Monday presented their
credentials to the Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Negara
(National Palace) here.

They were South Korean Ambassador Lee Yong-Joon, Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed
Saad Ibrahim Ebeid, North Korean Ambassador Jang Yong-Chol, Ireland Ambassador
Declan Kelly, United States of America Ambassador Paul W.Jones, Ukraine
Ambassador Ihor Humennyi and United Kingdom High Commissioner Simon Mark
Featherstone.

Lee Yong-Joon, 54, started his career in 1979 and had served as Deputy Minister
for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) and special
advisor to the minister of foreign affairs and trade for two years from March
2008.

Mohamed Saad, 56, who graduated from Cairo University in political science,
started his diplomatic career in 2005 as ambassador in Abu Dhabi, United Arab
Emirates for four years. He speaks Arabic, English and French.

Jang Yong-Chol, 47, graduated in economics from the Kim-il Sung University and
had served with the North Korean People's Army for four years from 1980.

He started his diplomatic career in 2007 as North Korea ambassador to Nepal for
three years before his posting to Malaysia.

Declan Kelly, 60, has vast experience in the diplomatic field including as
Ireland ambassador to Canada and concurrently to Jamaica and Bahamas, and
ambassador to Australia and concurrentlty to New Zealand and Fiji before his
posting to Malaysia.

Paul W.Jones, 50, father of two, was the deputy chief of mission at the US
embassy in Manila, the Philippines and Deputy Secretary of State for Afghanistan
and Pakistan before his posting to Malaysia.

He joined the foreign service in 1987.

Ihor Humennyi, 54, joined the foreign service in 1990 as First Secretary for
International Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ukraine and held
several senior positions with the ministry including as ambassador extraordinary
and plenipotentiary to Thailand before his posting to Malaysia.

Simon Mark Featherstone, 52, was British Ambassador to Switzerland and
concurrently accredited to Liechtenstein and director of the Shanghai Expo
Foreign Commonwealth Office before his posting to Malaysia.
