MUSLIM COUNTRIES SHOULD SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The Fifth Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which started here Tuesday, will be a platform to discuss science and technology among Muslim countries, Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said.

He said Muslim countries should seize the opportunities provided by the advancement in science and technology to improve the quality of life.

Speaking to reporters after the launch of the conference by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Mohamed Khaled said participants could learn and share knowledge as well as promote new technologies.

Present were Director-General of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) Dr Abdul Aziz Othman Altwaijri and Assistant Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) Abdul Moiz Bokhari.

The three-day conference is co-organised by the Higher Education Ministry, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation and with the cooperation of ISESCO.
