PM CHECKS ON UMNO WINGS' PROCEEDINGS

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Despite his hectic schedule, Prime Minister
Najib Razak squeezed in time to check on the proceedings of the United Malays
National Organisation (Umno) Youth, Wanita (Women) and Puteri (Young Women)
assemblies at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, Wednesday.

Accompanied by his officers and Umno executive secretary Abd Rauf Yusoh, Najib
spent about 30 minutes watching the proceedings in Dewan Merdeka, Dewan Tun
Hussein Onn and Dewan Tun Dr Ismail respectively.

At that time, the delegates were tabling the motions on the policy speech of the
respestive wings' leaders.

After ensuring that everything was going on smoothly, Najib who is also party
president, returned to his residence in Langgak Duta here, to get ready his
speech for the opening of the Umno General Assembly at PWTC on Thursday.

The prime minister together with Umno Information chief Ahmad Maslan and his officers discussed the speech, the second by Najib at the general assembly since becoming party president last year.

Among matters expected to be touched upon in his message to about 5,000 party delegates will be on his proposed New Political Model to ensure BN's continuity as the pillar of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, as well as the party's transformation.
