MALCON EAST 6 FLYS OFF TO LEBANON FOR PEACEKEEPING MISSION
SUBANG (Malaysia), Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Thirty six officers and 124 army personnel from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) from Malcon East 6 (ME 6) left for Lebanon Thursday night to replace the Malcon East 5 (ME 5) mission that is expected to return by end October.
The Malcon East 6 will be part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) mandated to keep peace in southern Lebanon.
The mission headed by Lt Col. Ahmad Marzukee Abd Manaf also included seven officers and members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces who would serve for nine months.
"Malcon 6 will replace Malcon East 5 who will end their duty on Oct 28," said Joint Forces Command chief Vice-Admiral Jamil Osman after sending off the mission at the Subang Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) base here Thursday.
