PIRATES HIJACK SINGAPORE LPG VESSEL
SINGAPORE, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- A Singapore-registered vessel was hijacked by pirates in the sea off Mombasa, Kenya, according to the city-state port authority on Sunday.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said it received a report that the liquefied petroleum gas vessel, 'York', was boarded by the pirates about 90 nautical miles off Mombasa.
It received a distress alert at 8.25pm Singapore time Saturday.
At the time of the incident, the vessel was reported to be on its way from Mombasa to Mahe, Seychelles.
MPA said there were 17 crew on board the vessel.
It is working with relevant government agencies and the ship owner, York Maritime Company Pte Ltd, to sort out the matter.
