MALAYSIAN SMEs TAP KOREAN EXPERTISE IN PRODUCT DESIGN AND PACKAGING

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The Korean Institute of Design Promotion,
Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and Malaysia Design
Council are collaborating on a training programme to help small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) in improving the design and packaging of their products.

The three parties are jointly organising a two-day seminar and workshop themed
"Empowering New Possiblities Through Design" starting Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur,
Matrade said in a statement.

The workshop is aimed at providing an understanding to local SMEs on the
importance of design and packaging in enhancing product acceptance and
competitiveness, it said.

Some South Korean design experts will be giving presentations and interact with
participants on how Malaysian products can achieve a leading position in the
international marketplace through good design.

"South Korea's expertise and experience in product design and packaging has
earned acclaim and acceptance in the ultimate testing ground, namely the global
marketplace," said Matrade's chief executive officer Noharuddin Nordin.

"By drawing upon their proven methodologies and processes, local SMEs can
acquire better understanding on how to improve product design, packaging and
presentation in terms of customer acquisition," he said.
