ISWAMI ORGANISES ECONOMIC SEMINAR IN BANDUNG
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists
Friendship Alliance (Iswami) will hold the Economic Seminar 2010 (SEMI '10) in
Bandung, Indonesia on Dec 10 to find the best approach in integrating the
Malaysian and Indonesian economy and contributing to the Asean economy, said
Iswami chairman Ahmat A.Talib, here Friday.
Ahmat, who is also the Media Prima executive director of news and
operations, was elected as head of the alliance at its first annual general
meeting here.
Media Prima is Malaysia's leading integrated media investment group.
Iswami is an initiative by journalists to have positive interaction between
media practitioners in Malaysia and Indonesia through dialogues, visits,
seminars and cooperation between the media organisations such as the journalists
exchange programme and so on.
Ahmat said the seminar also aimed to boost cooperation between Indonesian
and Malaysian entrepreneurs.
The economic activities to be given emphasis at SEMI'10 are salon/spa,
cosmetics, jamu/herbs, decorations, fashion/clothings, food and beverages.
Iswami also appointed other committee members to carry out the association's
activities.
The other members of the committee are deputy chairman Chamil Wariya
(Malaysian Press Institute); vice-chairman I Ibrahim Yahya (Radio Television
Malaysia) - RTM) and vice-chairman II Abdul Jalil Ali (Karangkraf Group);
secretary Padilah Ali (Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka); executive secretary Sabaruddin
Ahmad Sabri; treasurer Ibrahim Abdul Rahman (Ministry of Information
Communication and Culture); assistant treasurer Yong Soo Heong (Bernama); and
Exco members comprising Ashraff Abdullah (TV3), Wong Chun Wai (The Star) and Mior Kamarul Shahid (Berita Harian).
