ORANG KAMPUNG TO OPEN SALES CENTRE IN INDONESIA NEXT YEAR
MELAKA (Malaysia), Oct 30 (Bernama) -- Orang Kampung Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd, maker
of herbal-based products, plans to open a sales centre in Indonesia early next
year to boost its 'OK' brand overseas.
Its managing director, Habibul Ajmi Manggar, said the Malaysian-owned company
started to explore opportunities overseas, especially Indonesia, eight years
ago.
"In Indonesia, the best-selling product is Teh Herba Asli. We hope the centre
will help strengthen and grow our market there," he told Bernama here Saturday.
Habibul Ajmi said the centre would also help promote Teh Herba Halia (Ginger
Herb Tea), "Teh Herba Limau Purut", Kopi Tongkat Ali ("Tongkat Ali" coffee) and
"Kopi Kacip Fatimah" in Indonesia.
He said besides Indonesia, the company also sold its products in Singapore,
Brunei, Hong Kong and in the Middle East like Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
The herbal-based products were well-received in Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei
and coffee-based products were popular in Singapore and Middle East, he said.
"In the Middle East, we are not only studying the market in Egypt but also
exploring the possibility of importing herbs to sell here," he said.
Habibul Ajmi said three container loads of its products were sent to south California to test the market.
He said overseas sales contributed over 20 per cent to the company's turnover of RM20 million (US$6.430 million) last year.
"The company plans to increase the sales by between 10 and 15 per cent a year,"
he said.
The company would launch two new drinks for women next month, he said.
Habibul Ajmi said the company would open another factory in Merlimau here to produce herbal-based pharmaceutical products.
He said it would set up another company next year to focus on research and development and to do 'contract research' for other companies.
Currently, it has three factories and employs over 170 workers.
