EUROPEAN MPs ON WORKING VISIT TO MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Seven members of the European Parliament are on
a three-day working visit to Malaysia beginning Monday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said the delegation is headed
by Werner Langen, Chairman of the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of
Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). The MPs
are accompanied by nine officials.

"Langen and his delegation will attend the official launching of the 'Inter
Parliamentary Union (IPU) Malaysia - European Union (EU) Caucus' and are
scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Anifah Aman," it said.

The EU is Malaysia's fourth largest trading partner after Singapore, China and the United States, and Malaysia is EU's second largest trading partner in Asean after Singapore, the statement said.

Malaysia and the EU have robust trade and investment relations with total trade for 2009 amounting to USD21.48 billion (RM66.5 billion), it said.
