Over 1,000 ha of agriculture production in Vientiane under water

(KPL) Almost 2,000 ha of farmers' agriculture production have been flooded in four districts of Vientiane province, after having a prolonged heavy rainfall.

The Agriculture and Forestry Service said that the crops and animals in large amount have been affected in four districts of Thoulakhom, Feung, Kasy and Vang Vieng.

Over 1,400 ha in eight villages of Thoulakhom district have been badly
affected and other district respectively. It estimated more than thousand
families are victims.

The damage cost in these districts is underway.
The Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Service has given the first
assistance to farmers victims in Kasy district, so far by providing rice
seeds to local farmers to do rice sowing again after water level receding.

Farmers in affected districts are urged to plant another cash crops
replacing rainy season rice production.
