AHMAD HUSNI HEADS M'SIAN DELEGATION TO APEC FINANCE MINISTERS' MEETING IN KYOTO
PUTRAJAYA, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah will
head Malaysia's delegation to this weekend's 17th Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers' Meeting in Kyoto, Japan.
Among the main agenda at the two-day meeting are three plenary sessions which
will discuss the economic prospects of the Asia-Pacific region and financing
fiscal growth and management.
Ahmad Husni will speak at the second plenary session hemed "Finance
for Economic Growth".
"Ahmad Husni's participation in the session is a continuity to Malaysia's
position as the host to the Meeting of APEC Financial Institutions Dealing with
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kuala Lumpur on July 15 and 16," said the
Finance Ministry in a statement Thursday.
In his speech, Ahmad Husni would touch on Malaysia's experience in helping
facilitate financial access to SMEs, among other issues, it said.
Meanwhile, the Asean Finance Ministers will convene their informal meeting to
discuss the grouping's views in the run-up to the G-20 Summit in Seoul from Nov
11 to 12.
At the Asean Finance Ministers' Meeting, Husni would report on the latest
progress in efforts to establish the Asean Infrastructure Fund, it said.
Malaysia's Finance Ministry was in the forefront in the joint effort of Asean
nations and Asian Development Bank to finalise the fund to finance
infrastructure projects in Asean-member states, said the statement.
Ahmad Husni would also hold bilateral meetings with leaders of several
countries, including Australia and Japan, on the sidelines of the meeting, added
the statement.
