Narang wants foreign coach's contract to be renewed

Guangzhou, Nov 18 (PTI) Star Indian rifle shooter Gagan
Narang, who won an individual silver in the 10m air rifle
event in the Asian Games, which also helped the team finish
second, wants the contract of foreign coach Stanislav Lapidus
to be renewed after the mega event.
"We shooters have done our job and will do well in future
too. I have a good understanding with the coach. His contract
(with the Indian team) is coming to an end. Hopefully, it will
be renewed," said the Chennai-born, Hyderabad-based Narang
after completing his assignment here.
Narang could not add any more medals to the two he won on
the opening day of competitions. On Thursday he missed a medal
by a whisker by finishing fourth in the 50m range, in the
3-position event.
Narang, however, expressed satisfaction with his display
after ending his Games campaign with two silver medals.
"I'm satisfied with my performance. I won 8 medals this
year which I don't think any other Indian athlete has done,"
he said.
Narang, who led the Indian medal charge at last month's
Commonwealth Games with six medals that included four gold,
also called for better ammunition to be given to the shooters
to train for the 50m events.
"I want better ammunition and rifles for 50m events. The
ammunition for air rifle is good," he said. PTI SSR
