Iftekhar writes Kuwait Deputy PM regarding Bangladeshi workers

DHAKA, Bangladesh, Aug 6 (BSS) - Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Caretaker Government Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury today wrote a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Dr Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah requesting his 'personal initiative' to resolve all outstanding issues with regard to Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait.

He also thanked Al-Salem Al-Sabah for the measures taken so
far to address the issue by the Kuwaiti government, according to
a foreign office press release.

Dr Chowdhury, who is also in charge of the Ministry of
Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, wrote, "all
Bangladeshis consider Kuwait a brotherly country close to their
hearts" and invited Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem to visit
Bangladesh.

Speaking to the media later, the Foreign Adviser added that
he had spoken on the phone to the Charge d' Affaires in Kuwait
and was informed that 80,000 Bangladeshis have returned to their
works.

"I hope our relentless diplomatic efforts bear fruits," Dr
Iftekhar Chowdhury further observed. "We will continue these
efforts," he added.
